Welcome to Growing Farms

(aka Duluth Community Farm)

Hello Spring 2012, and welcome to a new cycle of rebirth, new farmers and a new name...

So why the name change? Over the course of the last year, while staffing informational booths at the Harvest Fest, SFA Annual Meeting, answering emails and responding to phone inquiries we quickly realized that we were spending a good percentage of the time explaining that in fact we are not a farm, but rather an organization eliminating roadblocks for new producers, hosting and growing farms. We knew what we were doing, but our name sure was confusing prospective beginning farmers, funders and supporters. So, we quickly realized that before our former name became too entrenched, that we should make a switch. After a variety of name iterations were tossed about, we kept coming back to what we do. We grow farms. Growing Farms stuck. We hope you like it!

Now,  with a growing season behind,  a couple of new farmers on board,  new acreage tilled and cover cropped with winter rye, we are ready for summers 2012. Stop by or give us call and learn how you can help support beginning farmers and supporting our regional food system.
